We are seeking a Senior Assessments Officer to play a critical role in supporting the sustainable management development and protection of Crown land across New South Wales. This is an exciting opportunity to influence high-profile projects provide expert planning advice and contribute to outcomes that benefit communities culture and the environment.
The role
As a Senior Assessments Officer you will be a trusted subject matter expert providing specialist planning and assessment advice across a diverse portfolio of Crown land projects and initiatives.
You will assess development proposals review planning pathways evaluate environmental and cultural heritage considerations and ensure activities comply with relevant legislation and government planning policies. Working closely with internal teams government agencies consultants contractors and community stakeholders youll help drive informed decision-making and successful project delivery.

What you will bring to the role
- Strong communication skills to simplify complex planning advice and influence stakeholders
- Problem solving mindset to navigate complex planning projects and deliver compliant outcomes
- Proven leadership ability to guide teams and build trusted stakeholder relationships
- Significant planning experience to navigate both statutory and strategic planning issues including provision of advice on local scale projects through to State Significant Development
What is an essential requirement:
- Tertiary qualifications in urban/regional planning or related discipline or equivalent professional experience
- The role requires travel both locally and regionally including overnight travel as required by the business and/or directed
