Our flagship Sydney campus is uniquely Canva - an extension of our Surry Hills neighbourhood. Its a thoughtfully designed space with plenty of room to collaborate focus and connect.

This role is based in Sydney and were looking for someone who calls it home. Our hybrid way of working gives you the flexibility to work remotely and to come together on campus for meaningful in-person collaboration and connection when it matters most. We trust our Canvanauts to choose the balance that empowers them and their team to achieve their goals.

What youd be doing in this role

As Canva scales our ability to make fast confident data-informed decisions is critical. As a Senior Analytics Engineer in AI Help Experience (AIHX) group within User Voice org youll sit at the intersection of data engineering and analytics. Your focus will be on transforming raw event and product data into clean scalable well-documented data models that enable product teams to deeply understand how our internal tools are being used - and where they deliver value to users.

Youll operate with growing independence - solving moderately complex data problems applying established modelling best practices and contributing to improvements in User Voices reporting ecosystem. Youll collaborate closely with Data Scientists Product Managers and Engineers building strong partnerships while deepening your craft.

At the moment this role is focused on:

  • Lead & contribute to the optimisation of the data warehouse performance to achieve operational excellence such as production stability & reliability incident response and review.

  • Design and implement observability monitoring & alerting best practices at scale across User Voice.

  • Building exceptional and robust warehouse platform & tooling capabilities that incorporate data governance and data management principles and controls

  • Applying software engineering practices to provide clean data sets from the data warehouse to end users.

  • Working primarily with SQL and Python to automate and optimize data loading and transformation systems.

  • Maintaining operating and tuning data infrastructure (Fivetran Snowflake Redshift dbt Looker Mode Analytics Census) at scale.

  • Developing infrastructure tools and scalable data ingestion access and modelling frameworks to support Canvas use of the data warehouse.

  • Designing and build out analytic data models that support answering questions from our product team and User Voice leadership.

  • Ensuring that our users data is protected throughout the data lifecycle and that its used with their consent to provide them with an amazing product experience.

Youre probably a match if

  • You enjoy bringing structure to complexity and building data others can trust

  • You have proven experience writing advanced SQL and working with modern data transformation tools (e.g. dbt or similar)

  • You have a strong understanding of data modelling principles and analytics engineering best practices

  • Youve worked with large datasets in cloud data warehouse environments

  • You can translate product questions into structured scalable data solutions

  • Youre a strong communicator who enjoys collaborating with cross-functional stakeholders

  • You have a growth mindset and are motivated to deepen your technical craft

We also provide tools like our Help Center and Help Assistant Chatbot to enable our users to help themselves. Were making sure every user can instantly solve their issues or find answers to their questions.

AI Help Experience is a Group within User Voice Supergroup. Youll be coming into a diverse data team of 17 people including both Data Scientists and Analytics Engineers who really do enjoy finding answers to the problems that our users have. Were looking forward to continuing to grow our team and gaining a range of new perspectives and ideas on how we can achieve our goals and help more people.
