About the role

VMCH is seeking an experienced and detail-oriented Senior Accountant to join our Finance team. Reporting within the Financial Control function this role plays a key part in ensuring the integrity accuracy and compliance of VMCHs financial reporting and governance framework.

You will be responsible for preparing and reviewing financial transactions journals reconciliations and balance sheet accounts that support monthly and annual reporting requirements. Working closely with stakeholders across the organisation you will contribute to financial control regulatory compliance system integration activities and continuous improvement initiatives that enhance the effectiveness of our finance operations.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead and support key components of the month-end close process
  • Prepare and review revenue and expenditure journals
  • Analyse financial results and provide meaningful commentary on variances and trends
  • Maintain ownership of assigned balance sheet reconciliations and controls
  • Ensure financial records are accurate complete and audit-ready
  • Support internal and external audit processes
  • Collaborate with Finance Systems and operational stakeholders to ensure accurate financial data flows
  • Contribute to system implementation integration and process improvement initiatives
  • Assist with annual budgeting and forecasting activities
  • Support the ongoing development of financial policies procedures and controls

About You

You are a proactive and detail-oriented finance professional who enjoys partnering with stakeholders and improving processes. You thrive in a collaborative environment and have a strong understanding of financial controls reporting and compliance requirements.

To be successful you will have:

  • CA or CPA qualification
  • Experience in a similar accounting role
  • Strong knowledge of accounting principles reconciliations journals and financial reporting
  • Experience working with large ERP systems (Epicor experience highly regarded)
  • Advanced analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Intermediate to advanced Excel skills including working with large datasets
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to accuracy
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement skills
  • Ability to manage competing priorities and meet deadlines

Highly Regarded

  • Experience within the aged care community services health or not-for-profit sectors
  • Exposure to finance transformation systems implementation or integration projects
