Established property development and investment firm based in Parramatta with a strong portfolio of projects across Sydney and Queensland delivering quality developments arelooking for a Senior Accountant/Financial Controller to take full ownership of the companies internal finances.
This position offers a pathway to an executive position making it an exciting opportunity for an ambitious accounting professional with experience in the construction or property development sectors.
The Role:
Working closely with the Director and leadership team to oversee all aspects of financial management whilst leading the internal accounting processes and driving financial efficiency across projects and group entities. Commercially minded accountant who thrives in a fast-paced hands-on environment with strong technical skills sound judgement plus the confidence to work autonomously while influencing decisions at the leadership level.
Key Responsibilities:
Full ownership of the General Ledger including month-end and statutory financial reporting
Profit andLoss and Balance Sheet preparation and reporting
Manage payroll processing and compliance
Supervise and support accounts payable staff
Main liaison for external accountants auditors and tax advisors
Preparation and lodgement of BAS and compliance documents
Intercompany loan reconciliation
Oversee rental income collections from tenanted properties
Support the Director with project-level financial analysis and ad hoc reporting
Assist with budget forecasting and cash flow management
Lead responses to ATO or audit queries
Take ownership of finance-related projects and process improvements
Skills and experience:
10 years experience in accounting ideally with exposure to construction or property development and investment companies
CA or CPA qualification
Strong knowledge of Xero and advanced Excel capability
Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills
Proven ability to work independently and proactively improve processes
Ambition to grow into a Financial Controller role within the company
This is a permanent position commencing immediately with anexcellent remuneration package.
