Security Engineer

Join our Downer Professional Servicesteam and play a key role in delivering complex defence and national security projects that safeguard Australias future.

Downer Professional Services comprises of three business units our Technical Advisory and Capability consulting practice and Team Downer which partners with CASG and NSSG as a major service provider to Defence. Together we are a multi-disciplinary advisory and delivery partner of choice for clients across Defenceand National Security.

We currently have an opportunity for a Security Engineer in Canberra to contribute to design deployment and sustainment of security solutions with Defences cyber command.

What Youll Do

• Deploying and configuring compute storage and network infrastructure in secure air-gapped datacentres to support SIEM applications.

• Architecting and managing Kubernetes clusters using Rancher Kubernetes Engine (RKE2) OpenShift Container Platform and Azure Kubernetes Service for secure containerised application deployments.

• Developing and maintaining Windows-based audit collection agents and endpoint monitoring software using C# .NET and SQL Server to improve telemetry quality and system responsiveness.

• Designing and implementing data ingestion normalisation and enrichment pipelines using Apache NiFi to process large volumes of structured and semi-structured audit data for SIEM consumption.

• Managing Elastic Stack indexes performing reindexing activities and supporting data analysis and visualisation using Kibana and Stroom.

• Providing expert advice on ICT security compliance and risk mitigation mentoring team members and contributing to the development of technical documentation and design standards.

What Youll Bring

• Previous experience working in a highly complex environment with Defence or Federal Government.

• Extensive experience in Linux and Kubernetes preferably in deployed environments.

• Ability to provide advice on ICT Security compliance and risk mitigation.

• Experience with Data transport and Stroom will be highly regarded.

Due to the nature of the work you are required to currently hold a AGSVA Clearance as required by the some instances compliance withInternational Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR)requirements may also be an inherent requirement.
