Job Summary

Strathcona Girls Grammar invites applications from an experienced and collaborative professional to lead the operation of our Science laboratories and support our growing focus on STEM innovation.

This role plays a central part in enabling high-quality teaching and learning ensuring that practical programs are safe well-prepared and engaging for students. As Science and STEM Laboratory Manager you will work closely with the Head of Science teaching staff and key stakeholders to support inquiry-based learning and the integration of emerging technologies into the curriculum.

About the role

Reporting to the Head of Science you will:

  • Lead the daily operations of the Science laboratories ensuring they are safe organised and responsive to curriculum needs.
  • Coordinate laboratory workflows manage priorities and supervise laboratory technicians.
  • Support teaching staff with preparation and delivery of practical classes demonstrations and investigations.
  • Assist with integrating STEM technologies such as robotics data loggers simulation software and emerging tools into the curriculum.
  • Manage laboratory resources equipment and budgets including stock control and procurement.
  • Maintain safe compliant laboratory environments and oversee safety documentation and procedures.
About you

You will bring:

  • Demonstrated experience leading or coordinating in a laboratory or similar environment.
  • Strong knowledge of laboratory safety chemical handling and compliance requirements.
  • Experience supporting Science or STEM learning including educational technologies.
  • Excellent organisational and time management skills with the ability to manage competing priorities.
  • Well-developed communication and interpersonal skills.
  • A collaborative solution-focused approach and commitment to continuous improvement.
  • Relevant qualifications in Science Laboratory Science or a related discipline.
