BlueScope Distribution is looking for a Scheduler / Programmer to join the Albury team. BlueScope Distribution is a single-source provider of product processing and service solutions in steel and aluminium product. The business supports customers in a variety of industries and works with them to help deliver projects on time and to specification. BlueScope Distribution supports its customers by helping them find the freedom to do what they do best.
At our BlueScope Distribution site in Albury we run a specialist plasma beamline that processes structural steel for customers building sheds bridges concrete moulds platforms and a whole bunch of other projects across the region. The machine is impressive but the real skill sits in the thinking behind it: understanding the drawings preparing the work properly planning the schedule and making smart decisions that help the team deliver safely and efficiently.
This opportunity would suit someone who has worked around machinery production fabrication warehousing drafting scheduling or hands-on operations and is ready to step into a role with more planning ownership and influence. You dont need to have done this exact job before. If youre curious organised practical and willing to learn we can teach the technical parts.
What Will You Do
Youll start by learning the machine and how the team works. From there your role will move into the planning and programming side where youll spend most of your time preparing jobs scheduling work and helping the machine run smoothly. Youll:
- interpret customer drawings and prepare files for the plasma beamline
- work with account managers to prepare quotes for business customers
- plan the daily and forward schedule for machine work
- prioritise orders and group similar materials to reduce downtime and keep production flowing
- spot issues before they reach the floor such as tricky cuts short parts or jobs that need a different approach
- build strong working relationships with internal teams and external customers
- help set the pace for a small team that takes pride in getting the work right
More About You
Youre someone who notices what needs doing asks good questions thinks ahead and works well with addition you:
- enjoy understanding how things work and figuring out the why
- can read follow or make sense of drawings measurements plans or technical information
- are calm when plans change and can reset priorities when needed
- take pride in keeping work organised and moving and enjoy helping your team when needed
- are comfortable moving between the office the machine and the warehouse floor
- bring a practical mindset a strong work ethic and a willingness to learn
- interested in developing knowledge in plasma machinery CAD steel fabrication scheduling and production planning
