Sales Operations, Estimator
Job Summary
The Estimator Sales Operations leads improvements in our sales quotation process by shaping high-quality customer outcomes turning warm leads and complex technical inputs into clear accurate and commercially sound estimates. Working from architectural and technical drawings the role develops well-defined scopes of work with assumptions exclusions and contingencies clearly articulated. By supporting a clear transition from quote to signed order and coordinating handover to the Deployment team the role helps minimise commercial and delivery risk across the lead-to-order process. Close collaboration with Engineering and Design ensures technical requirements are appropriately considered and reflected within the quoted scope.
Key responsibilities for the role
- Convert customer enquiries and warm leads into accurate compliant and margin-aware quotations aligned to commercial practices
- Act as the primary owner of quotation-related transactions ensuring customer requirements are correctly interpreted and documented
- Ensure estimates are technically sound commercially viable and ready for progression to sales order creation
- Produce well-defined scopes of work clearly articulating assumptions exclusions contingencies and non-standard requirements
- Ensure scope clarity supports a smooth transition from estimate to production and installation
- Proactively identify and mitigate commercial technical and delivery risks during the estimation phase
- Partner closely with Engineering and Hardware Design to scope cost and validate new or complex customer requirements
- Serve as the primary escalation point for pre-sales enquiries requiring commercial or technical clarification
- Support confident and timely decision-making by resolving ambiguities in customer requirements early
- Act as the primary contact for order intake during the estimation and pre-sales phase
- Partner with Sales Operations Order Management and Deployment teams to ensure sales order data is accurate and complete for handover
- Contribute to process automation and best-practice initiatives with Sales Ops and Account Management to improve customer experience
Qualifications and experience
- Diploma or equivalent qualification in a relevant technical or commercial discipline or equivalent practical experience
- 35 years experience in estimating pre-sales or commercial quotation roles within project-based environments
- Technical and commercial understanding of signage solutions
- Demonstrated experience interpreting tender architectural and construction drawings
- Proven estimating accuracy and sound commercial judgement
- Experience using estimating quoting or ERP systems
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office particularly Excel
- Experience working in cross-functional matrixed environments and navigating competing stakeholder requirements
