Restoring Families Practitioner | Part-Time

The Restoring Families Practitioner will bring an innovative intensive and wrap around service that will work with the whole family system.

Restoring Families is an intensive evidence-informed program that supports children and families experiencing complex challenges. Using a therapeutic family-centred approach that incorporates Aboriginal cultural elements the program works to build family strengths improve child wellbeing and create lasting change.

Through an initial intensive intervention phase followed by ongoing support Restoring Families helps prevent children entering or re-entering out-of-home care and supports safe family reunification. Working alongside families and community services the program delivers coordinated support to achieve stronger safer outcomes for children and their families.

ABOUT THE ROLE:

This is an Ongoing Part-Time (0.7 EFT) position situated within Melbournes Northern Metropolitan Region in the Family Services Team. The role is based at Mackillops Broadmeadows Office although majority of the service delivery is conducted in the community predominantly in families homes. The role will work in the Hume Merri-bek Region. The role will work collaboratively within the wider team and report to the Practice Leader

KEY SELECTION CRITERIA:

To be successful in this role you will have:

• Relevant tertiary qualification in Social Work Child Development Psychology or a related field. Candidates working towards a Bachelors degree or holding a relevant Diploma with substantial experience are encouraged to apply.
• Ability to work flexibly outside standard business hours (within 7:00am7:00pm) to meet client and program needs.
• Experience supporting children young people and families with a strong understanding of child development attachment trauma intergenerational trauma and complex needs within a whole-of-family approach.
• Demonstrated experience delivering therapeutic outreach casework to children and families impacted by trauma and involved with Child Protection.
• Knowledge and practical application of the MARAM Framework including risk assessment safety planning FVISS and CISS.
• Proven ability to build effective partnerships and collaborate with local services and key stakeholders.
• Experience working with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander children young people and families with an understanding of attachment and trauma-informed practice in an Aboriginal context.

Preferred Knowledge/Experience:

• Knowledge of child development and experience applying strengths-based child-centered family-focused approaches.
• Experience using assessment and outcome measurement tools including the North Carolina Family Assessment Scale (NCFAS) and Adverse Childhood Experiences (ACE) Questionnaire.
• Experience working within multidisciplinary care teams and navigating Child Protection NDIS family violence and mental health systems.
• Ability to facilitate care team meetings including coordination chairing and documentation.

• Valid and current Working with Children Card.
• Valid and current NDIS Worker Check (for NDIS risk assessed roles).

• Successful completion of Brief & Intermediate MARAM training or a willingness to complete.
