Job Summary
Mater Hospital Springfield is seeking passionate and motivated Registered Nurses to join our Post Anaesthetic Care Unit (PACU) on a permanent full-time or part-time basis. This is an exciting opportunity to be part of a growing perioperative service within one of Queenslands newest hospitals working alongside a supportive multidisciplinary team committed to delivering exceptional patient-centred care.
Based at our Springfield campus these roles will be part of a landmark moment in Queensland healthcare at Mater Hospital Springfield opening early 2026. This state of the art facility will meet the needs of the growing Greater Springfield region. With a mix of public and private beds across ICU maternity emergency and medical surgical services its set to care for over 200000 patients annually.
Salary range: $41.74 - $53.53 per hourplus superannuationandaccess to not-for-profit salary packaging up to $15900access to many staff benefits!
What youll be doing
As a Registered Nurse within PACU you will play a key role in providing safe high-quality care to patients recovering from anaesthesia and surgical procedures. Your key responsibilities will include:
- Deliver comprehensive patient-focused nursing care within the PACU environment
- Monitor and assess patients during the immediate post-operative recovery phase
- Respond promptly to changes in patient condition and escalate care appropriately
- Collaborate closely with the multidisciplinary team to coordinate and evaluate patient care
- Support a strong culture of safety quality improvement and patient advocacy
- Participate in ongoing professional development education and mentoring opportunities
- Contribute to a positive team environment and support continuous improvement initiatives
- Maintain accurate clinical documentation and adhere to Mater policies procedures and professional standards
About you
You are a compassionate and adaptable Registered Nurse who thrives in a fast-paced perioperative environment and is committed to delivering exceptional patient care.
- Current registration with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA) as a Registered Nurse
- Previous experience within PACU Recovery Perioperative or High Acuity Care nursing environments (such as ICU CCU or Emergency)
- Strong clinical assessment and critical thinking skills
- Ability to work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Commitment to delivering patient-centred care aligned with Maters values
- Demonstrated ability to prioritise workload and respond effectively in a dynamic clinical setting
- A proactive approach to professional development and continuous learning
