About the role

Wintringhams housing recreation program is seeking an experienced Recreation Officer to join our team. Bring your passion for recreation sites creating meaningful activities and opportunities that support residents to enjoy their independence connect with others and thrive in their community. Reporting to the Recreation Coordinator responsibilities include:

  • Identify resident individual interests and plan activities accordingly
  • Ensure recreational pursuits are facilitated in a fashion that maximises the resident recreational independence
  • Encourage the support of families and friends
  • Promote recreational opportunities available within the broader community
  • Monitor expenditure in line with budgets
  • Commitment to ongoing training and professional development and where required attend compulsory training sessions

What are we looking for

  • Certificate IV or higher in Recreation Community Development Psychology Disability or Social Work qualification or equivalent
  • A current driving licence First Aid Certificate 2
  • Experience working with older people
  • Experience in recreational program planning and implementation
  • Knowledge of local area & services and the ability to utilise community groups and resources

What we offer

  • Employment type: Casual position with weekday and weekend availability required. Shifts are typically around 8 hours on weekdays and 5 hours on weekends
  • Pay:$42.88 $48.99 p/hr 25 % Casual loading superannuation
  • Location:Majority of work would be at Eunice Seddon Dandenong; Possibly some work available at Angus Martin House Frankston
