QSTARS Advice Worker

They are seeking a capable and compassionate Advice Worker to support Queensland renters experiencing tenancy issues. Working within the Queensland Statewide Tenant Advice and Referral Service (QSTARS) you will provide accurate information practical guidance and case management support to help renters understand their rights and take informed action.

As a QSTARS Advice Worker you will:

• Provide high-quality information advice and guidance about Queensland tenancy law.
  

• Help renters understand their options resolve tenancy concerns and take action independently where possible.
  

• Provide additional support and case management to clients who need it.
  

• Maintain current knowledge of the Residential Tenancies and Rooming Accommodation Act 2008 (Qld).
  

• Work collaboratively with Tenants Queensland and QSTARS partner teams.
  

• Build effective relationships with QCAT and other community service providers.
  

• Maintain accurate client records and complete relevant administrative duties.
  

• Work towards agreed learning service delivery and client satisfaction targets.
  

• Follow the clients policies procedures values and professional standards.
  

The successful applicant will demonstrate:

• A strong commitment to social justice.
  

• The ability to work independently and collaboratively as part of a team.
  

• The ability to manage a high volume of requests including from renters experiencing distress or vulnerability.
  

• Strong self-care practices and the ability to maintain professional composure.
  

• The ability to provide sensitive and effective case management support.
  

• Highly developed verbal written and interpersonal communication skills.
  

• The ability to work respectfully with people from diverse cultural and socioeconomic backgrounds.
  

• Confidence using computer programs online client management systems and digital communication tools.
  

• An understanding of Queensland residential tenancy laws housing issues and the community services sector or the ability to develop this knowledge quickly.
  

Qualifications in social work social science law or a related field or previous community services experience are highly regarded. A current Queensland driver licence is desirable.
