The Position:

The Professional AssessmentOfficer works within a team who are responsible for conducting and managing arange of assessments including the assessments of overseas social workqualifications for migration purposes and for employment purpose; for skilledemployment assessments of post qualifying employment for migration skillsassessments and mutual recognition assessments.

The program provides highquality advice and assessments in a timely manner. The Professional Assessment Officer iscommitted to continuous quality improvement and the delivery of a high-qualityservice to members and future members.

Your key responsibilities:

  • Undertake assessments of social work qualificationsfor individual applicants for membership eligibility assessments and migrationskills assessments in the context of the AASWs assessing authority statuswith the Federal Government and also Mutual Recognition Assessments.
  • Establish if applicants meet the assessmentcriteria
  • Provide ineligible applicants appropriate adviceregarding educational programs which are required to be completed in order thatthe AASW MEA requirements are met. Implement quality control standards
  • Providewritten advice to applicants regarding outcomes and where appropriate reviewinformation
  • Maintainnecessary records and quality of records and assessment processes
  • Implementexisting policies and procedures and develop new documents as appropriateincluding required research in consultation with Team Leader
  • Implementand develop quality control standards
  • Preparereports and briefing papers and submissions as required

Key selection criteria:

  • Tertiaryqualification in social work (in the first instance)
  • A soundunderstanding of social work education and overseas social work qualifications
  • A soundunderstanding of the principles of the AASW Australian Social Work Educationand Accreditation Standards
  • Demonstratedability to manage several projects while maintaining deadlines
  • Proficiencyin the use of information technology including proficiency in Microsoft suiteSalesforce CRM and SharePoint.
  • Well-developedadministrative and organisational skills
  • Excellentorganisational and planning skills
  • Excellentcommunication skills both written and verbal
  • Excellentinterpersonal and teamwork skills
  • High levelanalytical and research skills
  • Demonstratedexperience in project development and management
  • Ability towork autonomously with minimal supervision

Desirable requirements:

  • Experiencein technical writing
  • Experiencein assessing social work qualifications
