We are seeking a dedicated Production Supervisor to join our team overseeing our manufacturing operations in Kew Victoria. This permanent full-time role is crucial team member ensuring efficient production processes maintaining quality standards and leading a team of production employees. The ideal candidate will play a key role in driving productivity and fostering a safe working environment contributing to the overall success of our manufacturing objectives.

About the Role

Production Supervisors manage production activities and quality standards to meet customer requirements and ensure daily production targets are achieved. Communicate production and or customer issues to Operations and the Sales & Account Managers and work collaboratively to resolve them and contribute to solutions that enhance the overall customer experience including addressing complaints and concerns.

Key responsibilities in your role may include:

  • Understand all processes in your area ensuring they are documented repeatable and followed.
  • Plan schedule and execute production in line with customer orders and update production documents.
  • Proactively manage daily targets in conjunction with other supervisors if necessary negotiate resourcing in line with production priorities.
  • Ensure all production processes and requirements are documented in Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and Work instructions (Wis) Risk Assessments are complete and maintained to support effective production.
  • Train trainers and support team on business processes and SOPs to manage the floor.
  • Maintain training proficiency of employees and assist in the identification of training needs of supported employees relevant to production.
  • Negotiate with supervisors of other areas to agree on employee placement and update rosters accordingly.
  • Ensure adherence to procedures by all employees in your area.
  • Monitor production accuracy and quality.
  • Develop and upskill employees delegate activities to increase capacity and resilience.

Note: Responsibility for Supported Employee training and behavioural issues will typically be delegated to the Support Team who work alongside you.

  • Support with time-estimation activities and provide technical knowledge for quoting.
  • Initiate and track the status of Risk Assessments for new equipment and processes in your area ensuring these are completed available and current.
  • Monitor and support supported employees including those operating forklifts addressing performance or behavioural concerns in partnership with the Support team as required.
  • Manage WIP of all customer orders and provide data for end-of-month processes.
  • Manage WIP and inventory movement for production reporting daily/weekly to senior management on project status and considerations.
  • Report daily output and explain variances to planned production targets.
  • Monitor and manage consumable inventory levels working with suppliers to prevent production delays.
  • Update inventory in MYOB Advanced BOMs manage stock counts monthly WIP reports including year-end reconciliations.
  • Oversee all goods received and dispatched ensuring accuracy of physical stock and corresponding MYOB records including required shipping documentation.
  • Check and enter all inwards goods into MYOB across your production areas.
  • Monitor order and maintain consumable stock levels to prevent production delays.
  • Investigate stock discrepancies and liaise with suppliers to resolve issues.
  • Ensure finished goods are shipped with correct documentation.
  • Undertake ad hoc projects as directed.

What You bring to the Role:

Experience

  • A mechanical aptitude is essential.
  • An organised and methodical approach to undertaking work and an adherence to process
  • Demonstrated maturity patience and clarity with verbal communication.
  • Demonstrated experience co-ordinating multiple manufacturing processes.
  • Experience or aptitude in working with people with disabilities (desirable)
  • Demonstrated experience in hands-on management.
  • Demonstrated attention to detail and record keeping.
  • Experienced in workplace training (highly regarded)
  • Practical knowledge of continuous improvement principles and quality assurance systems
  • Demonstrated understanding and practical application of WH&S legislative requirements.
  • Not for Profit experience will be well-regarded but not essential.
  • Demonstrated ability to interact and build rapport within a team environment is essential.
  • Competency in MS Applications (Word Excel Outlook Internet and various other software applications).
  • Ability to use basic information technology. Experience with MYOB is an advantage.

Qualifications & Certifications

  • Qualifications in a trade or engineering (desirable)
  • NDIS Screening Check (Current and Linked to AWA) mandatory
  • Working With Children Check (Employee Check) (Current and Linked to AWA) mandatory
  • Current First Aid qualifications HLTAID010 and HLTAID011 (or willingness to undertake).
  • Current CPR HLTAID009 (or willingness to undertake)
  • Mental Health First Aid (or willingness to obtain) is highly desirable.
  • A current motor vehicle licence (or willingness to obtain)
  • A current forklift licence (or willingness to obtain)
