Production Assistant (Nursery)
Job Summary
- Supervise and coordinate daily activities of farm workers
- Monitor productivity and quality standards
- Provide training guidance and hands-on support
- Assist with onboarding seasonal workers
- Blueberry harvesting and quality selection
- Planting pruning and trellising
- Irrigation setup and monitoring
- Fertiliser and crop protection applications
- Conduct field checks for plant health pests and irrigation issues
- Oversee nursery operations: propagation watering fertilising pest control
- Monitor plant quality and health standards
- Supervise nursery staff and seasonal workers
- Maintain stock records plant labelling and inventory
- Support packing plants for export markets
- Assist with daily and weekly planning
- Track harvest volumes yields and worker performance
- Maintain accurate production records and timesheets
- Support logistics between field and packing operations
- Identify and suggest improvements for efficiency
- Ensure correct usage and maintenance of tools and equipment
- Monitor supplies such as fertilisers irrigation components and picking trays
- Promote efficient use of water and resources
- Maintain food safety and hygiene standards
- Ensure use of proper PPE
- Support compliance with agricultural regulations
- Certificate VI Diploma or Degree in Agriculture Horticulture or related field
- Basic knowledge of farm management systems and Microsoft Office
- Minimum 2 years relevant farm production experience
- Exposure to soft fruit / low chill varieties (advantageous)
- Experience across farming activities from land preparation to harvesting
- Solid understanding of crop production harvesting techniques and farm operations
- Basic knowledge of irrigation pest control and soil management
- Strong problem-solving and organisational ability
- Ability to monitor and report farm conditions
- Ability to supervise small teams and allocate tasks effectively
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Adaptable to changing weather and peak production periods

Required Education:
Minimum Education/Qualification: Certificate VI diploma or degree in Agriculture Horticulture or related fieldBasic knowledge of farm management software and Microsoft Office ApplicationsExperience: 2 years relevant farm production experience preferably in soft fruit or low chill varietiesCrop production activities from land development to harvesting and farm maintenance.
