Principal Traffic Engineer
Job Summary
Arcadis is seeking a Principal Traffic Engineer to join our national Transport Planning team and assist in the ongoing development and growth of the Transport Planning and Traffic Engineering business.
This role will be based on the East Coast and can therefore work out of one of our Melbourne Sydney Brisbane or Gold Coast offices. This position will play a leading role in the providing delivery leadership across our national portfolio of Traffic Engineering and broader Transport Planning assignments.
Our transport planning team operates in a supportive leadership environment and we provide hybrid working policy and flexible working hours.
The objectives of the role are to:
Lead and contribute to transport planning projects including traffic impact assessments active transport plans multimodal strategies strategic studies and options assessments
Undertake the role of Project Manager on Transport Planning and Traffic Engineering engagements to meet budget schedule and quality targets
Perform the role of Traffic and Transport Discipline Lead within large multi-disciplinary planning and delivery engagements
Lead pursuits and proposals collaborating effectively with our Sector teams to develop compelling client propositions
Develop and grow a network of industry connections to increase the Arcadis presence within the broader Transport Planning community
Actively contribute to business strategy and growth plans for the Transport Planning business.
Ensure proactive collaboration and effective communication with multidisciplinary teams clients and stakeholders on projects and pursuits
Mentor and support junior team members
You will have:
Demonstrated experience in transport planning including traffic engineering active transport multi-modal network planning and/ or place-based transport planning.
Demonstrated experience in developing transport strategies plans studies and options assessments
Sound knowledge of traffic engineering principles including road safety intersection operations and local area traffic management
Ability to translate strategic transport visions into operational advice and practical design recommendations
Excellent written communication
Excellent verbal communication relationship building and stakeholder engagement skills
Demonstrated ability to lead self and others including upskilling emerging professionals within the team strong motivating and delegation skills
Experience in project management and working within multidisciplinary teams
Demonstrated technical and commercial acumen
Experience with or working knowledge of pedestrian planning and analyses advantageous
10 years relevant experience
Relevant tertiary qualifications in engineering planning or a related field
