Life Without Barriers Education is a wholly owned subsidiary of Life Without Barriers and is comprised of a network of schools supporting young people to re-engage in education by providing high school aged students with inclusive and flexible learning options.

In this inaugural Principal position we are looking for an outstanding educator with school leadership experience to lead our new Life Without Barriers Education schools initiative across TAS.

As Principal you will oversee campuses through remote and on-site support leading staff to create a safe inclusive and engaging learning environment that promotes student wellbeing and achievement.

You will drive teaching excellence implement trauma-informed practices lead school improvement manage staff development and operations and build strong partnerships with families community leaders and stakeholders

Note: The proposed Life Without Barriers Education school in Tasmania (campuses in Hobart and Launceston) is currently pending registration with the Office of the Education Registrar (Tasmania). Any appointment arising from this recruitment process is conditional upon the granting of required regulatory approvals.

Key Responsibilities

  • Promote high-quality engaging teaching that re-engages students and supports their academic and personal growth.
  • Create safe inclusive environments where young people feel supported heard and empowered.
  • Develop strong positive relationships with families carers Elders cultural leaders and external stakeholders.
  • Lead school improvement initiatives change projects and embed First Nations perspectives across learning and culture.
  • Support staff through supervision feedback and professional growth while maintaining personal professional development.
  • Uphold child safety trauma-informed practice and all relevant policies procedures and legislative requirements.
  • Ensure the effective organisation and management of the school including stewardship of financial and operational resources school staffing and compliance with LWB Education and relevant State and Federal policies and procedures.

Skills & Experience

  • Tertiary qualification in Education.
  • Active registration with the Teachers Registration Board of Tasmania(or ability to obtain)
  • Demonstrated leadership experience and ability to manage a flexible learning school delivering high-quality education and wellbeing programs for diverse students.
  • Knowledge or ability to acquire knowledge of TAS curriculum requirements
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills to build positive relationships across the school and community.
  • Proven ability to lead multi-disciplinary staff to enhance teaching learning and wellbeing.
  • Demonstrated ability to plan systems ensure compliance and manage resources effectively and equitably.
  • Current First Aid (HLTAID011) certification or willingness to obtain prior to commencement.
  • Current unrestricted Australian Drivers Licence and ability to drive 12 seat vehicles.

Successful candidates will be required to clear probity checks including National Criminal History Record Check and TAS Working with Vulnerable People check.
