About the Roles

The Energy Market Policy branch leads policy development on electricity gas and fuel markets in New South Wales. It stewards high-level cross-agency initiatives that support the delivery of NSWs energy transition including the Electricity Infrastructure Roadmap.

The Energy Market Policy Branch is recruiting a number Policy and Projects Officers to provide strategic policy advice and lead critical branch leads legislative and regulatory reforms contributes to national market reforms and provides advice on government interventions that support NSWs energy security and transition objectives.

Youll be working in a fast-paced but supportive team delivering reforms and developing policy to shape the energy transition in NSW. We are recruiting roles in the following teams:

General and Storage Investment:

The Generation and Storage Investment team identifies barriers to investment and practical solutions to ensure generation and storage projects reach critical financial close and construction milestones supporting the NSW Roadmaps investment objectives.

Gas & Fuel Security:

The Gas and Fuel Security team plays a key role in ensuring NSW has a secure reliable and affordable gas supply. The team leads policy development on gas supply adequacy security and infrastructure investment and provides advice on government interventions and national gas market reforms to support NSWs energy security objectives.

Wholesale Market Reform:

TheWholesale Market Reformteam contributes to strategic policy advice and leadershipof NSW reformsin response towholesale electricity market settings andtheir impact onmarket work is supporting the establishment and implementation of the Electricity Services Entry Mechanism (ESEM).

About You

Youre a motivated outcomes-focused professional who takes ownership and enjoys working collaboratively. With a solid understanding of government and interest or experience in energy policy youre confident navigating complexity and turning challenges into real-world impact.

You work well under pressure managing competing priorities while delivering high-quality results. Your strategic thinking and clear communication help shape decisions that influence NSWs energy future.

With experience in policy development youre comfortable working across agencies and engaging diverse stakeholders. Youre adaptable solutions-focused and driven to deliver meaningful outcomes for communities.

Essential Requirements

  • Demonstrated experience in policy development in the context of contemporary government policies and community attitudes.
  • Degree in a relevant discipline or equivalent experience
