About the team
The Aseptic Manufacturing Suite (Cytosuite) at Peter Mac plays a key role in supporting high quality patient care and groundbreaking cancer research through the preparation of vital oncology medications. Working closely with multidisciplinary teams the pharmacy team ensures the safe and timely production of standard-of-care and clinical trial treatments for Peter Mac patients and other hospital sites. With a strong focus on innovation quality and collaboration the team contributes directly to advancing cancer treatment and improving outcomes - keeping patient care at the centre of everything we do.
About the role
As a Grade 2 Pharmacist you will develop specialty practice in aseptic manufacturing and acquire a deep understanding of the preparation of cytotoxics immunotherapy hazardous and investigational medicines. Youll enjoy working as part of a large and busy team to provide excellent patient care by contributing to cutting-edge cancer therapy.
In conjunction with other members of the Cytosuite team you will;
Liaise with key stakeholders across day therapy inpatients hospital in the home clinical trials and other precinct hospitals.
Optimise pharmacy workflows and oversee sterile admixture compounding.
Adhere to Good Documentation Practice (GDP) to maintain accurate records.
Uphold excellence in Good Manufacturing Practice (GMP).
Ensure compliance with regulations policies and safety and quality assurance standards.

Youll bring with you:
AHPRA registration or be eligible for registration.
Broad working knowledge of Good Manufacturing Practice.
Experience in aseptic manufacturing operations.
Experience in oncology pharmacy practice and/or clinical trials.
Well-developed organisation and prioritisation skills.
Previous experience working in a TGA-licensed manufacturing facility is highly desirable.

The Grade 2 Pharmacist (Aseptic Manufacturing) participates as an active member of the pharmacy team to provide safe rational and cost-effective pharmaceutical care for patients and others by arrangement.
They ensure the accurate and timely production of sterile admixtures within the aseptic compounding suite (cytosuite) and comply with professional standards including Pharmacy Board Guidelines and Good Manufacturing Practice (GMP) guidelines.
The Pharmacist complies with quality assurance programs aligned with the above standards and adheres to occupational health and safety requirements.

Support the Cytosuite Production Manager to Manage admixture production Coordinate the daily work plan | Ensure accurate safe and timely production and supply of therapies to healthcare staff and consumers. Work collaboratively and communicate with other healthcare professionals regarding production timelines and requirements. Oversee specific areas of admixture production including workload triage checking verification and releasing procedures. Ensure precise documentation of all aseptic manufacturing activities including those related to clinical trials. Accurately record workload metrics and statistics as requested. Adhere to company policies as well as Good Manufacturing Practice (GMP) and Good Documentation Practice (GDP) standards. Adhere to legislative and professional practice guidelines and local procedures relating to medicines management and GMP. Ensure the facility is maintained in accordance with current workplace health and safety requirements. Ensure work practices for handling of cytotoxics and other hazardous drugs abide by OH&S recommendations and Peter Mac procedures. Deputise for the Cytosuite Production Manager when required. Regular participation in on-call and weekend rosters is expected. |
