Job Summary

Cremorne Melbourne VIC Full time Contract Retail / Apparel & Fashion

We are seeking an experienced People Advisor to join a fast-paced retail organisation on a 12-month fixed-term contract. This is a hands-on generalist HR role supporting leaders and team members across a national retail network.

You will work closely with People & Culture Business Partners and senior leaders providing practical advice across employee relations performance employee lifecycle activities HR systems and broader people initiatives.

Responsibilities

  • Act as a trusted first point of contact for general People & Culture queries.
  • Provide practical HR advice and support to retail leaders and team members.
  • Support employee relations matters investigations documentation and resolution.
  • Assist with performance capability and remuneration processes.
  • Coordinate onboarding offboarding contract variations and other employee lifecycle activities.
  • Manage employee benefits and related people processes.
  • Support HRIS administration workflows reporting and system testing.
  • Assist with compliance training engagement surveys talent and succession planning.
  • Prepare people communications guides templates and process documentation.
  • Analyse people metrics and salary data to identify trends and improvement opportunities.
  • Support People & Culture projects and initiatives across the retail network.
  • Identify opportunities to improve HR processes through technology and AI-enabled solutions.

Requirements

  • Previous experience in an HR People & Culture or HR Advisory role.
  • Experience in retail or another multi-site environment is highly desirable.
  • Strong understanding of HR processes employment legislation employee relations and HR policies.
  • Confident providing advice to leaders and employees at different levels.
  • Excellent relationship-building and stakeholder management skills.
  • Highly organised with strong attention to detail and follow-through.
  • Ability to manage competing priorities in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Commercial mindset with an understanding of how people initiatives support business outcomes.
  • Experience with HRIS platforms particularly Dayforce would be highly regarded.
  • Interest in using technology and AI to improve people processes is advantageous.
