Flourish Australia has exciting opportunities for Peer Workers to join our Hervey Bay team.
The positions available are:
- Full-Time (76 hours per fortnight)
- Part-time (60.8 hours per fortnight)
- Working a rotating roster including weekdays weekends and afternoon shifts
- Working in your local community in Hervey Bay
- Attractive hourly ratesequivalent to $40.49 - $43.42/hour Super Salary Packaging
As aPeer Worker youll use your lived experience of mental health challenges and recovery to inspire hope build meaningful connections and support people to achieve their personal recovery goals.
Working alongside people accessing our services youll draw on your lived experience expertise to create trusting relationships built on empathy mutual understanding respect and hope. Through authentic connection youll encourage people to recognise their strengths explore new possibilities and take positive steps towards living the life they choose.
In this role you will:
- Effectively and appropriately hold recovery and social citizenship conversations with people who access our services in order to connect with them support them and build reciprocity via mutual understanding trust and shared experience.
- Support people to identify their strengths goals and aspirations while empowering them to lead their own recovery journey.
- Advocate for inclusion and help reduce stigma surrounding mental health challenges.
- Support people to access opportunities services education training and activities that align with their goals.
- Foster skill development self-determination and confidence through coaching mentoring and shared learning.
- Work collaboratively with colleagues families carers and community partners to achieve positive outcomes.

Please note - Successful candidates must maintain a Class C drivers license and proof of comprehensive insurance must be provided when required. You may be directed to use your private motor vehicle in the course of performing your duties when anorganisational pool motor vehicle is unavailable. You will receive the Travelling Transport and Fares Allowance when using your private vehicle for work related purposes.
You are passionate about supporting people on their recovery journey and believe in the value of lived experience. You bring a recovery-oriented mindset strong interpersonal skills and a commitment to creating inclusive person-centred outcomes.
To be successful in this role you will have:
- A Certificate IV or higher qualification in a relevant field or a minimum of two years full-time experience in the human services sector. Relevant qualifications in the areas of Mental Health Peer Work Social Work Community Services or Psychology.
- Personal lived experience of a mental health challenge and recovery.
- The ability to draw on your lived experience in a safe respectful and purposeful way to inspire hope and support others.
- A strong alignment with Flourish Australias values and commitment to recovery-oriented practice.
- An understanding of the strengths challenges and diverse experiences of people living with mental health challenges.
- Well-developed computer skills including experience using Microsoft Office and data management systems.
- A current Australian Drivers Licence.
