PSG are partnering with a leading organisation based North of the River to recruit an experienced Payroll & Compliance Manager to lead a payroll function and ensure the accurate compliant and timely delivery of payroll services across a large and complex organisation.

Reporting to the People & Culture Operations Manager you will lead a team of up to six payroll specialists taking full responsibility for the end-to-end payroll function. Youll oversee a fortnightly payroll across employees covered by awards enterprise agreements and individual employment contracts ensuring all payments are processed accurately and in line with legislative and organisational requirements.

This is a key leadership role where youll drive payroll excellence ensure compliance with employment legislation and contribute to continuous improvement initiatives that enhance both employee experience and operational efficiency.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead coach and develop a team of Payroll Specialists fostering a high-performing and collaborative culture.

  • Manage the end-to-end payroll process ensuring accurate and timely fortnightly payroll delivery.

  • Ensure compliance with all relevant legislation awards enterprise agreements taxation superannuation and payroll governance requirements.

  • Maintain robust payroll controls policies and procedures to minimise risk and ensure best practice.

  • Provide expert advice to internal stakeholders on payroll legislation compliance and interpretation of employment conditions.

  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives identifying opportunities to enhance payroll systems processes and efficiencies.

  • Work closely with People & Culture Finance and other key stakeholders to support organisational objectives.

  • Manage payroll reporting audits and compliance activities ensuring data integrity and accurate record keeping.

  • Significant experience managing end-to-end payroll in a complex organisation.

  • Proven leadership experience managing and developing payroll teams.

  • Strong knowledge of Australian payroll legislation awards enterprise agreements taxation and superannuation.

  • Excellent analytical problem-solving and organisational skills.

  • The ability to interpret complex employment conditions and provide practical advice.

  • Experience improving payroll processes and implementing best practice controls.

  • Outstanding communication skills with the ability to build strong relationships across all levels of an organisation.
