Consultant Paediatrician

Regional Queensland Permanent Full-Time Public Hospital

A major regional hospital in coastal Queensland is seeking a dedicated and compassionate Consultant Paediatrician to join its growing Child & Adolescent Health Service. This is an excellent opportunity to work within a well-supported modern hospital environment serving a large and diverse regional population.

This role offers the perfect balance of acute paediatrics neonatal care outpatient clinics and community-focused practiceideal for a clinician who values teamwork lifestyle and meaningful impact.

The Opportunity

You will join a supportive multidisciplinary paediatric team providing specialist care across:

  • Paediatric inpatient wards
  • Special Care Nursery
  • Emergency consultations
  • Outpatient clinics
  • Shared-care and community paediatrics

There is also opportunity to be involved in service development education and quality improvement initiatives across the broader Paediatric Department.

Key Responsibilities

Deliver high-quality clinical care for infants children and adolescents
Participate in on-call roster supporting paediatric emergencies and neonatal resuscitation
Work collaboratively with nursing allied health and medical teams
Provide leadership mentorship and education to junior doctors and medical students
Conduct outpatient clinics and remote/telehealth consultations
Support service improvement governance and best-practice standards
Engage in culturally safe care with a strong commitment to improving outcomes for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander children

About You

We are seeking a Paediatrician who brings:

  • FRACP in General Paediatrics or equivalent
  • AHPRA Specialist Registration (or eligibility to obtain)
  • Strong experience in neonatal resuscitation and acute paediatric care
  • Interest or experience in developmental paediatrics (advantageous but not essential)
  • A collaborative communicative approach with excellent interpersonal skills
  • Commitment to education service development and multidisciplinary teamwork
  • Passion for supporting regional and rural communities
