THE ORGANISATION
As Australias peak national organisation for the communityHIV and LGBTIQA health response Health Equity Matters supports memberorganisations working with lesbian gay bisexual transgender and intersexcommunities people living with HIV sex workers people who use drugs andAboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities. Through advocacy policyand health promotion it leads Australias effort to end HIV transmission andpromote the health of its communities.
In the Asia Pacific region Health Equity Matters uses thesame strengths to promote effective policy strengthen local communityleadership and support communities in their work in HIV health and humanrights.
ABOUT THIS ROLE
The Pacific Program Officer (ASPHA)provides administrative coordination and program support across HealthEquity Matters Pacific HIV programs.
This is an early-careerrole suited to someone with some experience in international development orpublic health who is looking to build their skills in program managementstakeholder engagement and regional work.
The role supports day-to-dayprogram delivery coordination with partners and internal processes whilealso taking responsibility for specific tasks and discrete activities asrequired.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
The Pacific Program Officer will be responsible for:
- Provide administrative and coordination supportacross Pacific programs
- Track work plans timelines and keydeliverables
- Support coordination with program partners andstakeholders
- Assist with organising meetings workshops andevents (including logistics and documentation)
- Support data collection reporting and programdocumentation
- Assist with budget tracking invoices andprogram expenses
- Contribute to training workshops andcapacity-building activities
- Support planning and logistics for in-countryprogram activities
Selection Criteria
- Tertiary qualification in public healthinternational development social sciences or a related field (or nearcompletion).
- Approximately 3-5 years relevant experience(including internships or volunteer experience).
- Strong organisational and administrative skillswith attention to detail.
- Good written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to manage multiple tasks and meetdeadlines.
- Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively ina team environment and independently.
- Interest in international development and/orglobal health.
Highly Desirable
- Experience or understanding of HIV public health or community development programs.
- Experience working in or with Pacific contexts.
- Familiarity with donor-funded programs and with DFAT-funded programming.
Additional Requirements
- Willingness to undertake occasional domestic and international travel
- Hold a current and valid passport
