Exciting opportunity to join the governance of an organisation at the forefront of digital mental health innovation and advocacy in Australia.

SANE supports people experiencing complex mental health issues and trauma and their families friendsand carers. We do thisthrough online support servicesadvocacycommunityand connection.

Through The Dax Centre SANE also works to reduce stigma and deepen public understanding of mental health through art and education.

Our vision is a brighter future for people families and communities facing complex mental health issues.

To achieve this vision we have three goals:

About you

You may be an experienced director an executive a subject matter expert or someone with relevant lived experience who is ready to contribute to thoughtful compassionateand effective governance.

We are looking for people whomeet the essential requirements of the role andone or more of the highly desirable skills qualifications or lived experience perspectives listed below:

Essential requirements:

  • Board committee or advisory experience.
  • Strong governance capability and understanding of directors responsibilities.
  • Strategic insight soundjudgementand financial acumen.
  • Risk oversight capability.
  • Integrity empathycollaborationand a commitment to purpose.
  • A willingness to actively contribute toBoard and committee work.

Highly desirable:

  • Legal
  • Finance accounting and audit
  • Governance complianceand risk
  • Clinical or other relevant professional practice
  • Digital technology data AIand cybersecurity
  • Human resources people and culture and work health and safety
  • Fundraising and philanthropy
  • Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander governance and partnerships
  • Marketing communications stakeholderengagementand government relations
  • Lived experience of mental ill-health grief suicidalitydistressand/or trauma
  • Lived experience as a family member carer or someone bereaved through suicide

Board members are expected todemonstratean ongoing commitment to their governance responsibilities including:

  • Attendance atregular Board meetings(approximatelysix per year).
  • Active participationin atleastoneBoardCommittee.
  • Diligence inpreparingformeetings and active contributiontoBoard and committee discussions.
