Mechanical Fitter

Established in 1985 NEPEAN Conveyors manufactures and markets conveyor components including pulleys idlers rapid advance-rapid retreat components and drive-heads and provides on-site installation maintenance and relocation services for conveyor installations.

We are seeking an experienced and motivated Mechanical Fitter to join our team based at Slade Point Mackay QLD.

Reporting to the Mechanical Supervisor this role is responsible for the assembly disassembly maintenance and refurbishment of underground mining and materials handling equipment. You will work on a diverse range of equipment including gearboxes drive line systems winching equipment hydraulic power packs and other mechanical systems used throughout the mining industry.

This is an excellent opportunity for a trade-qualified Mechanical Fitter looking to work within a professional workshop environment supporting some of Australias leading mining operations.

• Assemble and disassemble underground mining and materials handling equipment
• Repair maintain and refurbish gearboxes drive line equipment winching systems hydraulic power packs and associated machinery
• Carry out maintenance activities on fixed and mobile plant
• Complete maintenance schedules inspection reports and associated documentation
• Perform minor workshop support duties
• Operate workshop tools machinery forklifts and overhead cranes safely and effectively
• Maintain workshop equipment and work areas to a high standard
• Support apprentices by demonstrating correct work practices and procedures
• Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives across the workshop
• Follow all WHS policies procedures and safe work instructions
• Maintain a safe clean and organised work environment

You are a trade-qualified Mechanical Fitter with strong mechanical aptitude and a commitment to delivering quality workmanship in a safe and productive environment.

• Current Mechanical Fitter trade qualification or equivalent
• Experience in the assembly maintenance and repair of industrial or mining equipment
• Strong mechanical fault-finding and problem-solving skills
• Ability to interpret technical documentation and maintenance requirements
• Excellent attention to detail and commitment to quality
• Strong communication and teamwork skills
• Ability to work independently and manage workload effectively
• Commitment to workplace health safety and environmental standards

• Underground mining experience or knowledge
• Experience working on conveyor systems and materials handling equipment
• Forklift Licence
• Overhead Crane experience
• Exposure to hydraulic and drive line systems
