About the opportunity

The Manager Collaborative Research (MCR) works with the Strategic Research Funding Manager and ongoing Manager of Collaborative Research (the Major Bids team) as well as Portfolios/Academic Units to support the development of strategic research bids in close collaboration with industry government community and not-for-profit partners. The MCR fulfils their role in alignment with University strategic priorities Portfolio/Academic Unit Research Strategies and as part of the pre-award Major Bids team in the Research Division.

The MCR translates areas of the Universitys research capacity and capabilities into relevant value propositions that create and/or extend partnerships and funding opportunities with industry government community and not-for-profits.

Importantly the MCR directly assists with stakeholder management (external and internal) during bid development ensuring that research proposals are co-designed with partners aligned with the Universitys research strengths and its strategic goals as well as with National strategies. The MCR is well versed in proposal development project management and coordination of large groups and multiple interests in a research environment. Knowledge of intellectual property principles commercialisation and translation principles program and portfolio development tools (e.g. program logic stakeholder mapping) partnership and collaborative research agreements and complex budgeting and data analysis tools are considered extra assets

What youll do:

• Support Portfolios/Academic Units and researchers to develop and co-design strategically aligned and impactful and compliant research bids with organisational partners (incl. industry government community and not-for-profits)
• Identify & help to build multidisciplinary capability platforms within and across Portfolios/ Academic Units and provide leadership in positioning them to secure large-scale long-term research partnerships and funding
• Provide project management support to research/partner teams during the development of strategic research bids
• Identify and engage with strategic partners to establish/extend collaboration in ways that will increase the prospects for securing significant research funding
• Assist researchers to articulate value propositions for partners

What were looking for:

• A stakeholder management track-record that demonstrates success at nurturing and securing value from internal and external stakeholders (industry government community and not-for-profits) and partners
• Experience in developing competitive funding proposals
• Highly developed interpersonal and communication skills
• Demonstrated experience in negotiating outcomes
• Experience in supporting large groups of multiple stakeholders from diverse backgrounds to secure funding
• Demonstrated superior organisational skills with a proven track record of working successfully within a high degree of autonomy to meet deadlines and achieve goals in multi-disciplinary teams
• Excellent skills with office systems (e.g. Microsoft PowerPoint Excel Teams etc.)

Salary details

Appointment to this role will be at HEO 8 and will have a total remuneration package of up to $152033 (pro-rata) comprising base salary within the range of $114282 to $129943 (pro-rata) plus 17% superannuation.
