Whats the role

This role sitswithin the Westpac Institutional Bank (WIB) Financial Crime and Fraud team. Youll be part of a dynamic and global team providing end-to-end oversight of financial crime risk across AML/CTF sanctions fraud and scams and anti-bribery and corruption.

As Manager Carbon Commodities and Trade youll provide first-line financial crime risk advice supporting WIB businesses operating in trade finance commodities and carbon markets. The role ensures financial crime risks are effectively identified early and managed for complex products and transactions in line with the WIB Financial Crime Framework and Westpacs risk appetite.

Bringing specialist expertise in trade-based financial crime sanctions and emerging risks youll partner closely with business and operations teams to deliver proportionate and sustainable risk solutions. Additionally theres a key focus in supporting regulatory compliance managing issues and contributing to broader enterprise initiatives ensuring risks are effectively identified addressed and managed in line with the Groups risk appetite.

What do I need

  • Proven experience in financial crime risk within trade finance commodities or carbon markets operating in a first-line advisory capacity.
  • Strong background conducting risk assessments for complex trade structures financing arrangements and new or non-standard products.
  • Deep knowledge of trade-based financial crime sanctions and emerging risks with the ability to apply frameworks to complex customer and transaction scenarios.
  • Experience designing enhancing and implementing controls across trade or commodities portfolios
  • Demonstrated ability to partner with business and operations teams to deliver practical and sustainable risk solutions.
  • Strong stakeholder engagement and judgement with the ability to influence decision-making and support senior management through clear risk insights.
