About the role

As a Management Accountant within Finance Business Advisory & Partnering you will provide high-quality management accounting and financial analysis support that enables informed decision-making and helps ensure resources are used effectively to deliver better outcomes for schools across NSW. Working collaboratively with business leaders and finance colleagues you will deliver budgeting forecasting reporting and financial analysis while building strong working relationships across the organisation. Your insights will help stakeholders understand financial performance make informed decisions and ensure public resources are effectively allocated to support the Departments priorities.

Youll be a part of a collaborative Finance Business Advisory & Partnering team where youll work alongside experienced colleagues and continue developing your analytical and business partnering skills.

About you

You are a proactive finance professional who combines strong technical accounting and analytical skills with a collaborative and customer-focused approach. You enjoy working with stakeholders at all levels understanding business needs and translating complex financial information into practical advice meaningful insights and recommendations.

You are motivated by the opportunity to use your financial expertise to support better decisions that have a positive impact across the NSW education system.

To be successful in this role you will demonstrate:

• Experience in management accounting financial accounting or finance business partnering roles.
• Strong budgeting forecasting and financial analysis capabilities with the ability to identify trends explain financial performance and contribute to meaningful insights.
• Experience using enterprise financial systems (SAP experience highly regarded) to analyse financial performance and variances.
• The ability to interpret financial information identify key issues and provide evidence-based recommendations to support decision-making.
• Strong stakeholder engagement and relationship management skills with the ability to build trusted relationships provide financial advice and influence postivie outcomes.
• Excellent communication skills and the ability to explain complex financial concepts clearly.
• A commitment to continuous improvement and delivering high-quality customer service.
• Curiosity and a proactive approach to understanding challenges and using financial insights to support organisational outcomes.

Key knowledge and experience

• Demonstrated experience leveraging financial data from enterprise financial systems (the Department uses SAP) to analyse financial performance and variances.
• Demonstrated experience working in management accounting and/or financial accounting roles.
• Knowledge of and commitment to implementing the Departments Aboriginal Education Policy and upholding the Departments Partnership Agreement with the NSW AECG and to ensure quality outcomes for Aboriginal people.

Essential requirements of the role

• Qualifications in finance/accounting or demonstrated equivalent knowledge skills and experience.
• Demonstrated understanding of and commitment to the value of public education.
