The opportunity

Were looking for a Make Smoking History Manager to lead our established tobacco control program to continue to shape its future. This is an exciting opportunity to bring fresh ideas to an established and well-respected program leading a passionate team dedicated to reducing the harm caused by smoking and vaping through public education community action advocacy and policy.

Under the leadership of the Cancer Prevention & Research Director youll manage the program working closely with key stakeholders to deliver evidence-based initiatives that make a real difference.

Based in Subiaco this is a permanent full-time position available for an immediate commencement. Part-time arrangements may be considered for the right candidate. (minimum of 0.8 FTE)

What youll be doing

Deliver evidence-based tobacco control initiatives aligned with state and national priorities.

Influence public policy and advocate for legislative reforms that strengthen tobacco control in WA.

Oversee the delivery of programs projects and campaigns ensuring contractual and organisational requirements are met.

Lead and support research activities including reports peer-reviewed publications and program evaluations.

Develop and maintain strong partnerships with government funders researchers and key stakeholders.

Manage a high-performing team.

Identify and pursue funding opportunities partnerships and capacity-building initiatives to support program growth.

Manage program budgets monitor financial performance and prepare quarterly budget forecasts.

Stay at the forefront of emerging tobacco control research translating evidence into practical public health initiatives and messaging.

Represent Cancer Council WA professionally with stakeholders and respond to media enquiries as required.

About you

To be successful in this role you will have the following key attributes:

A tertiary qualification in a health-related profession (health promotion health science behavioural/social science or related discipline) OR

Minimum 5 years management experience of a public health team

Ability to critically review and interpret health research and evaluation methods

Experience managing funding submissions contracts and budgets

Strong organisational communication and stakeholder engagement skills

High developed interpersonal verbal and written communication skills

Demonstrated understanding of and commitment to the values of Cancer Council WA
