Maintenance Fitter
Job Summary
The Maintenance Fitter is responsible for the safe and effective execution of preventative and reactive maintenance activities across manufacturing and production equipment ensuring plant reliability equipment availability and operational performance targets are achieved. The role includes diagnosing and repairing mechanical and electrical faults conducting planned maintenance and supporting continuous improvement initiatives to optimize equipment performance. Working closely with Production Quality and Engineering teams the Maintenance Fitter ensures all maintenance activities are completed in accordance with site safety environmental and quality standards contributing to a safe and efficient manufacturing operation.
Available shifts: Day - 6:00 AM to 2:00 PM and Afternoon - 2:00 PM to 10:00 PM
Your key responsibilities will be to:
- Perform preventative and reactive maintenance activities to maximise equipment reliability availability and operational performance.
- Diagnose and repair mechanical pneumatic hydraulic and electrical faults to minimise downtime.
- Complete planned maintenance tasks and maintain accurate maintenance records within the CMMS.
- Comply with all WHS quality environmental and site safety requirements including LOTO and permit procedures.
- Identify hazards report incidents and near misses and contribute to a safe workplace culture.
- Participate in root cause analysis and implement corrective actions to prevent recurring equipment failures.
- Support continuous improvement initiatives that enhance reliability safety and maintenance effectiveness.
- Assist with equipment installations modifications and improvement projects as required.
- Read and interpret technical drawings schematics and maintenance documentation.
- Maintain high housekeeping standards and support environmental compliance.
Your skills and experience
To be successful in this role youll have:
- A trade qualification as a Maintenance Fitter Mechanical Fitter or equivalent.
- Experience in a manufacturing or production environment.
- Strong mechanical and electrical fault-finding skills.
- Knowledge of pneumatic hydraulic and automated equipment.
- Experience using CMMS and preventative maintenance systems.
- The ability to read technical drawings and schematics.
- A strong commitment to safety teamwork and continuous improvement.
- Exposure to PLC-controlled equipment welding or fabrication is advantageous.
Qualifications :
- At least three years experience working as a Mechanical Fitter.
- Mechanical Trade Qualification (Certificate III or equivalent).
