About the Project
The Eyre Peninsula Desalination Plant supports SA Water Corporations drinking water supply requirements. The project involves the commissioning of a complex water treatment facility incorporating advanced mechanical electrical and process systems to ensure reliable safe and efficient water production.
What are the key accountabilities for the position
Plan implement and supervise all LOTO and energy isolation activities across commissioning areas
Interpret technical drawings including single-line diagrams P&IDs and project specifications for isolation planning
Develop and maintain LOTO procedures SWMS and daily isolation plans
Issue and control permits to work (PTW) in line with commissioning requirements
Coordinate with construction pre-commissioning and HSE teams to ensure safe and efficient isolation methods
Supervise isolation and de-isolation activities ensuring zero-energy verification at all times
Manage LOTO devices materials and equipment including tracking usage and stock levels
Liaise with contractors and subcontractors to ensure compliance with LOTO procedures
Prepare reports on LOTO activities isolation status and potential risks
Maintain accurate documentation including PTWs NOEs CCCs and related records
Ensure commissioning areas are appropriately barricaded and signed prior to energisation
WHS-specific
Ensure all isolation activities comply with WHS legislation site procedures and environmental requirements
Lead pre-start meetings and toolbox talks for LOTO activities
Review and apply JSA SWMS and risk assessments prior to work commencement
Ensure correct use of PPE including arc flash and electrical safety equipment
Inspect LOTO devices locks tags and equipment prior to use
Report hazards unsafe acts or conditions to supervisors and HSE representatives
Support audits and compliance checks conducted by the Commissioning Manager and Area Tagging Authority
Required Skills and Competencies
Certificate III or higher in Electrotechnology Instrumentation or related trade
Current electrical licence or relevant trade qualification recognised in Australia
White Card (Construction Induction)
Minimum 5 years experience in LOTO or energy isolation roles within commissioning or construction environments
Proven experience on major infrastructure or industrial projects in Australia
Strong understanding of electrical systems switchgear and industrial plant operations
Ability to read and interpret technical drawings including P&IDs and electrical schematics
Desirable: experience in water treatment or heavy industrial commissioning projects
