The School Librarian plays a pivotal role at the heart of this learning journey balancing theday-to-dayoperations of a dynamic library with meaningful support for teaching and this role you will manage andmaintaina contemporary library service including cataloguing collection development and digital systems while ensuring seamless access to resources across the school.

From managing the Smart Library system and SCIS database to coordinating textbook hire and supervising daily library use your work underpins a wellfunctioning futurefocused learning hub.

About the role

The successful applicant willbe responsible for:

  • Maintainingand updatingthe Smart Library system and SCIS database including original cataloguing authority files student records and digital downloads

  • Sourcing cataloguing processing and preparingresources for all curriculum areas including Textbook Hire learning support and teacher reference materials.

  • Purchasing budgeting stocktake culling and evaluation of resources and online databases ensuring the collectionremainscurrent andcurriculum aligned.

  • Overseeingdaily library use during and outside school hours supervise students and ensure smooth circulation bookings andinterlibraryloan services.

  • Assistingstudents and staff with research skills conduct primary library lessons support teachers during library sessions andmaintainstrong knowledge of the national curriculum.

  • Monitoringand reportingIT or hardware issues support access to online databases and ensure reliable network and internet use within the library.

  • Encouraging students to be lifelong learners

About you

To be successful in this role you are:

  • Skilled in library operationsbringing sound knowledge of library services and strong experience with Library Management Systems

  • Technologically capablewith advanced digital literacy across research tools online databases Microsoft and internet platforms enabling you to support students staff and smooth library operations.

  • Engaged andstudentfocusedwith genuine enthusiasm for working with young people strong knowledge of childrens and adolescent literature and the ability to guide research reading andinformation seekingskills.

  • A strong communicator and collaboratordemonstratingexcellent interpersonal skillsconflict resolutionability and the confidence to work closely with teaching staff while also supporting and training colleagues.

  • Organised anddetail drivenable to manage competing tasks such as cataloguing collection developmentstudentsupervision duties and library operations during and outside school hours.

  • A proactiveproblem solverwith the ability to troubleshoot technical issues evaluate resourcesmaintainaccuratesystems and ensure the libraryremainsa reliable welcoming andwellfunctioninglearning hub.

You will also bring

  • Certificate or Diploma of Library and Information Services

  • Experience in a library service preferably in aschoolenvironment

  • Blue Card Suitability

  • HLTAID012 Certificate Provide Emergency First Aid Response in an Education and Care Setting - or willingness to obtain

  • HLTAID009 Certificate Provide Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) or willingness to obtain
