Job Summary
The Community College by WEA Co is inviting expressions of interest from people who are skilled in their field and passionate about sharing that knowledge with others. Were building a pool of Leisure Program Tutors to deliver non-accredited programs that help adult learners develop skills explore interests and connect with their community.
This is an ongoing expression of interest. Registered candidates will be contacted as suitable program opportunities arise across the Illawarra Shoalhaven and Southern Highlands regions.
Leisure Program Tutors design and deliver engaging inclusive and learner-centred sessions within The Community Colleges Leisure Skills Program. Youll work with adult learners from diverse backgrounds creating welcoming environments where people feel confident to participate try something new and keep coming back.
The role is casual and flexible. Youll propose your own course set your preferred schedule and deliver in a way that suits your subject and your learners. Whether you run a single sessionor a multi-week program the focus is always on creating a positive and memorable learning experience.
Courses may be delivered at our Wollongong campus or at agreed locations across the region. We welcome proposals from tutors across all areas arts and crafts cooking technology languages music movement writing wellness and beyond.
- Design and deliver engaging sessions aligned to your proposed program and participant needs
- Create a welcoming inclusive learning environment that encourages participation and confidence
- Adapt your facilitation approach to suit learners with varying skill levels backgrounds and learning styles
- Build positive relationships with learners that support ongoing engagement and community connection
- Identify and manage any risks or hazards associated with your program or delivery environment
- Prepare materials resources and session plans as required
- Provide feedback on learner engagement and program experience to support continuous improvement
- Complete basic administrative requirements such as attendance records and learner feedback
- Location: Wollongong campus (5058 Auburn Street) and across the Illawarra Shoalhaven and Southern Highlands
- Employment Type: Casual
- Classification: WEA Illawarra Enterprise Agreement 2019 Schedule A Levels 14 (depending on the skills experience and capability required to perform the role.)
- Remuneration: $58.46 $61.58 per hour (inclusive of casual loading) superannuation
Were looking for people who are genuinely skilled in what they do and who enjoy sharing that with others. Formal teaching qualifications are not required what matters most is yoursubject matter expertise your ability to engage a group and your commitment to creating a positive learning experience.
- Demonstrated capability and experience in the subject area or skill you wish to teach
- Ability to facilitate or lead group-based activities workshops or community programs
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to build rapport and foster a sense of community
- A genuine commitment to inclusive welcoming and accessible learning environments
- Eligibility to work in Australia and ability to obtain a NSW Working with Children Check clearance prior to commencing delivery

- If there is a suitable program opportunity that aligns with your proposal you will be required to submit a week-by-week session plan (this will be sent to you separately).
