Why this role matters

As we continue to grow our Indigenous workforce and strengthen Indigenous leadership across the University we are seeking an outstanding Indigenous professional or academic to join the Faculty of Engineering.

Depending on your qualifications skills experience and career aspirations appointment may be made at Lecturer (Level B) Senior Lecturer (Level C) Associate Professor (Level D) or Professor (Level E) level. Applicants interested in a leadership appointment may also be considered for a part-time Associate Dean role alongside an academic appointment.

Importantly engineering expertise is not a prerequisite for this opportunity. We welcome candidates who bring demonstrated Indigenous leadership cultural knowledge lived experience community connection student engagement expertise curriculum development experience or broader professional expertise.

About the Associate Dean Opportunity

For candidates interested in faculty leadership the Associate Dean appointment is available for up to two years with the possibility of renewal.

The Associate Dean role will be offered on a part-time basis at 2 days per week (0.4 FTE) to be agreed with the successful candidate. Where applicable this can be combined with a continuing academic appointment involving teaching research or other academic responsibilities.

The role will provide leadership in advancing Indigenous initiatives embedding Indigenous knowledges strengthening student success building community partnerships and contributing to the Facultys strategic priorities.

Who were looking for

We are seeking candidates who can demonstrate some combination of:

• Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander identity cultural knowledge lived experience and community connection.
• Leadership experience in higher education education community government industry not-for-profit or related sectors.
• A passion for advancing Indigenous student success engagement and participation.
• Experience developing programs initiatives curriculum partnerships or community-led outcomes.
• Strong relationship-building consultation stakeholder engagement and influencing skills.
• Strategic thinking and the ability to translate vision into meaningful outcomes.
• Experience in teaching research curriculum development leadership or professional practice is valued but not essential.
• A PhD Masters by Research or equivalent professional leadership community and/or lived experience is welcomed.
