Who We Are

Established in 1994 Pilbara Meta Maya Regional Aboriginal Corporation (PMMRAC) is a not-for-profit organisation which delivers essential services (power water and municipal) and community services (environmental health housing and accommodation facilities) to remote Aboriginal communities across the Pilbara Gascoyne and Mid-West regions of Western Australia.

Our culturally supportive accommodation facility provides a safe and welcoming environment for First Nations students trainees apprentices and workers pursuing education training and employment opportunities.

We are seeking a reliable and flexible Casual Kitchenhand / Utility relief to join our team. This role is primarily kitchen-based and will provide relief coverage for the Kitchenhand and Chef during periods of leave and operational requirements. The successful applicant will also assist in other areas of the facility when required.

Key Responsibilities

Assist the Chef with meal preparation and service.

Support catering functions and special events.

Prepare and handle food in accordance with food safety requirements.

Wash dishes pots pans and kitchen utensils.

Clean and maintain kitchen equipment appliances and food preparation areas.

Clean benchtops floors ovens rangehoods dry store freezer and chiller areas.

Receive lift handle and store food deliveries.

Maintain a clean safe and organised kitchen environment.

Dispose of rubbish and report maintenance or hygiene issues promptly.

Provide relief support for kitchen operations including covering Kitchenhand and Chef leave where suitable skills and experience allow.

Assist with housekeeping laundry reception and general facility operations as required.

About You

Experience preparing meals in a commercial setting / kitchen operations.

Experience in accommodation services housekeeping or general facility operations.

Food Handling Certificate or willingness to obtain.

Sound food safety food preparation and hygiene knowledge.

Experience using cleaning chemicals safely in hygiene-controlled environments.

Good organisational and time management skills.

Reliable self-motivated and willing to take direction.

Positive flexible attitude with a willingness to assist across various duties.

Strong communication and customer service skills.

Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

Working with Children clearance
