Java Engineer

We are seeking an experienced Staff Engineer Backend Services to join a high-performing engineering team in Sydney. This is an exciting opportunity for a senior backend professional who is passionate about building scalable cloud-native applications and driving engineering excellence using modern technologies.

As a Staff Engineer you will play a key role in designing developing and delivering robust backend solutions while collaborating with cross-functional teams in an Agile environment.

• Design develop and maintain scalable backend applications using Java and Spring Boot.
• Build and enhance RESTful APIs event-driven systems and microservices.
• Develop workflow orchestration solutions using Temporal AWS Step Functions or Flink.
• Build and deploy cloud-native applications on AWS
• Implement secure scalable and high-performance solutions following engineering best practices.
• Develop and maintain CI/CD pipelines using GitHub Actions.
• Manage containerized applications with Docker and Kubernetes.
• Monitor system performance using CloudWatch observability and monitoring tools.
• Ensure application quality through unit integration and automated testing.
• Work closely with product owners architects and
  • engineering squads to deliver high-quality software.
  • Explore and implement emerging AI technologies where appropriate.

  Technical Skills
  
  • Strong experience with Java Core and Spring Boot
  • Expertise in REST APIs Kafka Event Streaming and Microservices Architecture
  • Experience with workflow orchestration tools such as Temporal AWS Step Functions or Apache Flink
  • Hands-on experience with AWS services including:
    • Bedrock
    • Lambda
    • S3
    • IAM
    • CloudFront
      
  • Experience with Docker and Kubernetes
  • Strong understanding of GitHub Actions CI/CD pipelines Vault and Certificate Management
  • Experience with monitoring and observability tools such as CloudWatch
  • Knowledge of security compliance governance and Responsible AI principles
