What does the role involve

The IT Lead provides strategic oversight of the organisations IT digital and AI environment ensuring systems are secure reliable and aligned with organisational goals. The role manages an external MSP drives service performance and leads cyber security data protection and privacy as the organisations Privacy Officer. It also supports business continuity oversees key technology and AI initiatives and advises stakeholders to deliver practical secure and value-driven solutions.

Key responsibilities will include (but not limited to):

  • Provide strategic oversight of IT digital systems and AI ensuring alignment with organisational goals
  • Manage the external Managed Service Provider (MSP) including service delivery and performance oversight
  • Lead cyber security data protection privacy and governance frameworks
  • Oversee business continuity disaster recovery and system resilience
  • Ensure reliable operation and lifecycle management of systems infrastructure and devices
  • Lead IT and digital projects including AI initiatives and system improvements
  • Manage budgets vendors contracts and software licensing
  • Advise stakeholders on technology and AI solutions to support business needs


This role is based in our Mascot office and will work a hybrid model including two days in the office per week.


Who are we looking for

The successful candidate will have a deep commitment to Caritas Australias mission to end poverty and injustice by promoting human dignity for all as well as a dedication to the principles of Catholic Social Teaching that guide our global efforts. They will have a mix of the following qualifications skills and experience:

  • Tertiary qualification in IT Computer Science or related discipline (or equivalent experience)
  • At least 5 years experience in an IT management or senior advisory role
  • Proven experience managing outsourced or Managed Service Providers (MSPs)
  • Strong experience in cyber security data protection and IT risk management
  • Experience managing IT budgets vendors contracts and software licensing with strong accountability for operations
  • Strong knowledge of Microsoft 365 and cloud-based systems with the ability to translate business needs into practical secure solutions
  • Well-developed documentation governance stakeholder engagement and communication skills across technical and non-technical audiences
  • Experience in the NFP sector is desirable

Success in this role will see improved system reliability stronger cyber security maturity and clear trusted IT advice supporting organisational decision-making.
