The Clinical Lead position is:
- Full-time (76 hours per fortnight)
- Based in Broken Hill
- Working Monday to Friday
- Level 4 (HPSS) on the Flourish Australia Enterprise Agreement (2018)
About the Opportunity
The headspace Clinical Lead provides leadership and oversight of clinical services ensuring that young people aged 12-25 and their families receive high-quality evidence-based and recovery-orientated care. The role combines clinical governance supervision and service development with direct clinical work including complex assessments and therapeutic interventions. The Clinical Lead at Broken Hill works closely with the Senior Clinical Manager to oversee and manager the clinical operations of the headspace centre. You will implement best practice contribute to continuous quality improvement and maintain compliance with accreditation and safeguarding requirements.
Your main responsibilities as the Clinical Lead will include (but are not limited to):
- Working as a member of the leadership team to oversee the day-to-day operation of the service (as delegated) including clinical decision making regarding assessments and treatments
- Oversee processes to ensure appropriate case planning and coordination for young people and their families accessing headspace Broken Hill
- Implement the headspace Clinical Governance Framework providing an integrated model of community-based health services delivery
- Work with the headspace team to create systems and a quality environment that promotes clinical excellence in youth health and support services and a community of practice
- Conduct assessments of young people and their families/carers as appropriate specifically those presenting with complex needs
- Deliver culturally safe socially inclusive and developmentally appropriate evidence-based interventions (individual and group) to young people and their families
- Work collaboratively with the young person to develop individual recovery plans and/or service plans that are person-centred and directed by the young person as much as possible
- In conjunction with the Manager Broken Hill build and maintain working relationships with internal and external service providers including General Practitioners and other medical professionals Government Departments and services Non-Government Organisations and schools
- Oversee the implementation of relevant and innovative clinical services and contribute to program and research development to ensure service integrity and quality

Selection Criteria
Essential:
- Minimum 3 years post-qualification experience delivering mental health assessments and evidence-based interventions and;
- Clinical Psychologist or Registered Psychologist who have current full AHPRA registration or;
- Occupational Therapist who have current full AHPRA registration and who have completed additional mental health specific training and hold mental health accreditation with OTA or;
- Social Worker who hold an approved Social Work Qualification (Bachelor/Master of Social Work) and who have completed additional mental health specific training and eligible for membership of the AASW or;
- Division 1 Mental Health Nurse who have completed additional training or who have relevant experience within mental health e.g. with post graduate qualifications in mental health nursing or;
- Mental Health Counsellors or Psychotherapists with a minimum of Level 3 or above requirements outlined within the Australia Counselling Association Scope of Practice Guidelines and who are registered with the relevant membership body (ACA or PACFA or equivalent).
- Demonstrated advanced skills in the delivery of clinical services to young people and/or providing mental health services or programs including being able to respond to crisis and high-risk situations when required.
- An in-depth knowledge of recovery focused and family inclusive practice as well as understanding the needs of young people from diverse backgrounds and the ability to effectively engage with them and their family/carers.
- Experience providing clinical supervision and clinical leadership within a multidisciplinary team.
- Demonstrated experience in the participation of clinical systems including the implementation and review of Clinical Governance Models privacy and confidentiality principles.
- Advanced interpersonal teamwork and communication skills.
- Strong organisational skills with the ability to effectively manager competing demands.
Desirable:
- A personal lived-experience of a mental health challenge.
- Hold mental health endorsement with relevant professional body.
- Understanding of the Australian health care system including primary health care the mental health service system and related professional networks.
- Knowledge of relevant legislation policies and strategic directions in youth mental health.
- Knowledge of local youth and health sectors.
- Current valid Australian drivers licence.
