About the opportunity

Reporting to the Principal Intelligence Analyst Health and Safety the Intelligence Analyst will assist with the coordination of the intelligence capability for the effective collection analysis and dissemination of information and intelligence.

The Intelligence Analyst will apply their knowledge and provide actionable recommendations to drive strategic decision making and operation efficiency through a variety of tasks from tactical intelligence functions to strategic reporting on threats and challenges to WorkSafe Victoria. With a strong understanding of intelligence this position is required to liaise effectively with internal and external stakeholders and will require strong collaboration with Senior Analysts and leadership to support the wider Compliance and Investigations teams.

Key accountabilities

  • Coordinate and maintain a high level awareness of the regulatory operating environment within an area of expertise to identify priorities including new and emerging threats and fraudulent and criminal activity within the regulatory landscape.
  • Refine intelligence requirements by working with multiple internal and external stakeholders to clarify needs address information gaps and support agreed priorities.
  • Provide collection analysis and production to inform against WorkSafe Victorias priorities and preventative programs.
  • Contribute to intelligence collection prioritisation by providing analytical input on risks emerging issues and information needs.
  • Applying a range of analytical tools and techniques to examine information test assumptions identify trends and support evidence based analysis.
  • Using high-level critical thinking and communication skills (verbal written and visual) to communicate intelligence assessments and analysis to operational teams and other stakeholders.

About you

You are an experienced Intelligence professional with extensive knowledge of intelligence processes methodologies and tradecraft. You will use your strong liaison interpersonal and negotiation skills to influence change while developing and maintaining productive working relationships with a range of internal and external stakeholders.

Additionally you will possess the following skills and experience:

  • Experience in tactical or operational intelligence environments in either a Regulator law enforcement agency or National Intelligence Community including knowledge of intelligence processes methodologies and tradecraft.
  • Demonstrated experience as an experienced Intelligence Analyst with the ability to transfer data analysis skills to an intelligence context including sourcing analysing and interpreting data to identify patterns trends and insights that inform intelligence assessments and regulatory decision making.
  • An ability to create and disseminate actionable intelligence products on complex issues including the identification and evaluation of emerging threats opportunities patterns and trends.
  • Demonstrated ability to use analytic tools in support of making intelligence assessments.
  • Capability to apply intelligence frameworks processes systems and standards.
  • Demonstrated ability to develop and review strategic operational and tactical intelligence products paying particular attention to accuracy and detail.
  • Demonstrated ability to shape strategic thinking aligning operational activities with corporate goals.
  • Demonstrated ability to make sound decisions and work as part of a team including producing high quality work with agreed timeframes.
  • A commitment to continuous improvement an ability to implement and respond positively to change and uncertainty.
  • This role may require travel between Geelong and Melbourne offices when needed.

Qualifications

  • A professional qualification or tertiary degree in a field relevant to intelligence
