Human Resources Superintendent
Job Summary
We are seeking a versatile and experienced HR Superintendent for a site-based role supporting our Steelmaking Coal operations. This is a 12-month fixed term opportunity with the possibility of permanent continuation subject to ongoing business requirements and approval.
Working closely with operational leaders and the broader People and Capability team you will lead practical people solutions support change and help the business navigate workforce and organisational priorities in a safe productive and sustainable way.
This is a hands-on role suited to an adaptable HR leader who can move comfortably between strategic and operational matters build credibility on site and provide clear advice across a broad range of workforce issues.
What you will be doing
In this role you will:
- Lead and support the delivery of site-based HR services.
- Partner with leaders to understand operational and workforce requirements.
- Provide practical advice across employee relations industrial relations performance management workforce planning organisational change and business transition activities.
- Support leaders with the consistent application of company policies procedures and employment conditions.
- Manage complex and sensitive employee matters in a professional and respectful way.
- Support workforce capability succession planning and employee development activities.
- Work closely with Talent Acquisition Payroll Employee Relations and other specialist teams.
- Build effective relationships with employees site leaders unions and key stakeholders.
- Support the business through changes in ownership or operating arrangements including workforce communication consultation and transition activities.
- Identify opportunities to improve HR processes employee experience and business performance.
- Promote a positive inclusive and high-performing workplace culture.
The Human Resources Superintendent also provides leadership in managing and influencing the organisation to achieve the efficient use of business assets and human resources including supporting the mine training and competence framework.
Qualifications :
About you
You will be a versatile HR professional who is comfortable working on site in a busy operational environment. You will be able to adapt quickly manage competing priorities and provide practical balanced advice to leaders and employees.
You will ideally bring:
- Tertiary qualifications in Human Resources Employee Relations Business or a related discipline.
- Significant generalist HR experience preferably within mining resources construction or another heavy industry environment.
- Demonstrated versatility across both strategic and operational HR matters including experience leading or supervising an HR team.
- Strong knowledge of Australian employment legislation and contemporary HR practices.
- Strong change management experience together with experience managing employee relations performance and workplace investigation matters.
- Strong stakeholder management and influencing skills.
- The ability to balance operational needs with company policy and employee wellbeing.
- Clear written and verbal communication skills.
- A practical calm and solutions focused approach.
- The ability to manage confidential and sensitive information appropriately
Experience working at multi-union workplaces and supporting complex business change or major transitions would be advantageous. Experience within an operational mining environment and an understanding of coal mining employment arrangements would also be highly regarded.
