The Role:
As Head of Visual Art and Design you will lead a passionate team and champion high-impact teaching and learning. Youll drive curriculum development in Visual Communication Design foster cross-curricular connections and support contemporary practice including digital laser-cutting and 3-D printing. Youll build teacher capability model professional excellence and maintain a child-safe respectful environment.
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop implement and review visual arts curriculum (Years 7 to 12 including VCE/VET)
- Lead and mentor a team of teachers fostering a culture of feedback and collaboration
- Champion diverse and contemporary teaching strategies
- Oversee assessment reporting and documentation
- Lead departmental meetings and engage stakeholders
- Plan coordinate attend subject-related tours including overseas tours
- Manage annual budget and resources
- Represent Strathcona at events
Selection Criteria:
- Experience teaching Visual Communication Design at VCE level
- VIT registration and demonstrated child safety knowledge
- Strong knowledge of contemporary learning theories and art/design technologies
- Outstanding interpersonal and leadership skills
- Ability to prepare and manage budgets and resources
- Curriculum design and team coordination experience
- VET qualifications highly regarded
- Adobe Suite and relevant digital/design technology proficiency
