The Role:

As Head of Visual Art and Design you will lead a passionate team and champion high-impact teaching and learning. Youll drive curriculum development in Visual Communication Design foster cross-curricular connections and support contemporary practice including digital laser-cutting and 3-D printing. Youll build teacher capability model professional excellence and maintain a child-safe respectful environment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop implement and review visual arts curriculum (Years 7 to 12 including VCE/VET)
  • Lead and mentor a team of teachers fostering a culture of feedback and collaboration
  • Champion diverse and contemporary teaching strategies
  • Oversee assessment reporting and documentation
  • Lead departmental meetings and engage stakeholders
  • Plan coordinate attend subject-related tours including overseas tours
  • Manage annual budget and resources
  • Represent Strathcona at events

Selection Criteria:

  • Experience teaching Visual Communication Design at VCE level
  • VIT registration and demonstrated child safety knowledge
  • Strong knowledge of contemporary learning theories and art/design technologies
  • Outstanding interpersonal and leadership skills
  • Ability to prepare and manage budgets and resources
  • Curriculum design and team coordination experience
  • VET qualifications highly regarded
  • Adobe Suite and relevant digital/design technology proficiency
