Job Overview

On behalf of our esteemed client a prominent organisation in the Mining & Resources sector Jobskey Consultancy is seeking a highly experienced and strategic Head of Procurement Mining & Resources. This is a full-time position based in Brisbane Australia. We are looking for an exceptional leader to direct and oversee the entire procurement function driving efficiency value and strategic alignment across all purchasing and supply chain activities. The successful candidate will be responsible for developing and implementing robust procurement strategies leading a high-performing team and ensuring the seamless acquisition of goods and services critical to our clients operations.

Responsibilities

Develop implement and continuously refine the organisations procurement strategy to align with corporate objectives and industry best practices.
Lead mentor and manage the procurement team fostering a culture of high performance collaboration and professional development.
Oversee all aspects of strategic sourcing including supplier identification evaluation negotiation and relationship management for high-value contracts.
Drive cost-saving initiatives and identify opportunities for process improvements across the entire procure-to-pay lifecycle.
Ensure all procurement activities comply with company policies industry regulations and ethical standards.
Manage supply chain risk by developing and implementing effective risk mitigation strategies.
Collaborate closely with key internal stakeholders including Operations Finance and Engineering to understand their requirements and ensure procurement meets their needs.
Prepare and present detailed reports on procurement performance key metrics and market trends to the executive leadership team.

Qualifications

Proven track record of success in a senior procurement leadership role such as Head of Procurement or Senior Procurement Manager.
Extensive and essential experience within the Mining Resources or a related heavy industry sector.
Demonstrable expertise in strategic sourcing complex contract negotiation and supplier relationship management.
Strong leadership and people management skills with the ability to inspire and guide a team towards achieving strategic goals.
Excellent commercial acumen with strong analytical and problem-solving capabilities.
A comprehensive understanding of supply chain management principles and best practices.
A tertiary qualification in Business Supply Chain Management Engineering or a related discipline is required.
Professional certification such as from the Chartered Institute of Procurement & Supply (CIPS) would be highly advantageous.
Exceptional communication influencing and stakeholder management skills.
