Head of Energy Markets

A leading energy platform in Australia is seeking a Head of Energy Markets to lead its wholesale electricity environmental products and portfolio optimisation strategy.

This is a senior leadership role with full accountability for energy market strategy trading oversight structured contracting and risk management across a diversified portfolio of renewable and flexible assets.

The Opportunity

  • Own and deliver end-to-end energy market strategy across generation retail exposure and structured portfolios
  • Lead contracting and transactions including PPAs offtake agreements ISDAs and firming structures
  • Oversee portfolio optimisation hedging strategy and market risk within defined risk appetite
  • Provide commercial leadership across wind solar BESS and emerging energy assets
  • Partner closely with executive leadership on growth strategy acquisitions and investment decisions
  • Build and lead a high-performing energy markets function

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead wholesale market participation incl. forwards caps swaps FCAS and environmental products
  • Drive market analysis forecasting and scenario modelling to inform trading and investment decisions
  • Manage prudential exposure liquidity and collateral frameworks
  • Originate and execute complex commercial structures across the NEM
  • Provide market insight to support M&A development and strategic transactions

About You

  • Extensive leadership experience across the Australian energy markets
  • Proven track record in energy market strategy trading oversight and portfolio optimisation
  • Deep experience structuring and negotiating PPAs retail contracts and complex energy agreements
  • Strong commercial capability across valuation modelling and risk management
  • Credible executive stakeholder engagement and team leadership capability
