About the role:

The Facilitator will engage collaboratively to conduct high-quality research and creative activities with mentorship from leaders within the research team.

The facilitator will play a key role in supporting the delivery and evaluation of a family-based clinical trial for children experiencing anxiety. The role focuses on facilitating engaging online group sessions for children and their parents/carers within the control arm of a MRFF funded randomised controlled trial. This will include creating a positive and supportive participant experience that encourages engagement and retention while maintaining adherence to study protocols and research governance requirements. The facilitator will also support participant recruitment and retention collect high-quality research data and contribute to trial implementation fidelity and evaluation activities

As the Facilitator you will:

  • Conduct high-quality research scholarship and creative activities generating high impact outputs with mentorship.
  • Facilitate engaging online group sessions for children and their parents/carers creating a welcoming inclusive and interactive environment that supports participant engagement and retention.
  • Build rapport with participants and confidently guide structured group discussions while maintaining fidelity to the study protocol.
  • Collect manage and report high-quality research data in accordance with study protocols governance requirements and ethical standards.
  • Engage collaboratively to participate in novel and high-quality research or creative activities.
  • Communicate research outputs including as part of team.
  • Contribute to Deakin community and its effectiveness via local engagement and citizenship activities.

To be successful as a Facilitator youll have:

  • PhD in a relevant discipline and/or other relevant qualifications and experience
  • Experience working with children and families in research clinical education or community settings including delivering or co-facilitating group programs.
  • Excellent interpersonal communication and facilitation skills with the ability to build rapport quickly engage children and families using developmentally appropriate communication and facilitate structured group discussions.
  • An understanding of clinical trials is desirable.
  • Emerging research and scholarship through publications and/or exhibitions as appropriate to the discipline.
  • Ability to contribute to communities through research.
  • Demonstrated mental health literacy including an understanding of common mental health conditions and neurodivergence.
