About the role:
The General Manager of Rentals is responsible for leading and growing the Toyota Material Handling Australias national rental business. A key focus of the role is to develop and execute strategic and operational leadership across all rental activities including fleet management sales customer service and people leadership. The incumbent will also focus on developing and executing business strategies that will strengthen TMHAs market position and maximise asset utilisation while delivering an exceptional customer experience.
The role reports to Executive Vice President & Chief Financial Officer.
Key Duties & Responsibilities of The Role Include:
- Develop and execute the national rental business strategy to achieve revenue growth profitability market share expansion and long-term business objectives.
- Oversee the management and optimisation of the national rental fleet.
- Function as a key member of the senior leadership team contributing to organisational strategy and business planning.
- Lead and manage the overall performance of the Rental Division ensuring delivery of financial operational customer and safety targets.
- Drive business development initiatives by identifying new market opportunities strengthening customer relationships securing major contracts and increasing rental impact.
- Assume full accountability for the divisions Profit and Loss (P&L) including budgeting forecasting cost management pricing strategies and return on asset performance.
- Lead develop and inspire a high-performing team through coaching succession planning talent development and employee engagement initiatives.
- Promote and uphold TMHAs commitment to safety and ensure compliance with workplace health and safety legislation company policies and industry regulations.
- Collaborate with branch service sales and executive leadership teams to align rental operations with broader business goals.
- Monitor market trends competitor activity and industry developments to support informed decision-making and strategic planning.
- Establish monitor and report on key performance indicators relating to financial performance fleet utilisation customer satisfaction operational effectiveness and safety outcomes.
Qualifications & Experience:
- Trade certificates in either automative electrical or mechanical or a related discipline (preferred).
- Minimum 10 years leadership experience within rental material handling industrial equipment transport logistics construction equipment or a related industry.
- Extensive and proven experience in sales/service preferable within the Materials Handling industry.
- Strong leadership communication stakeholder management and negotiation skills.
- Proven experience leading large scale operational businesses and teams.
- Experience managing significant asset fleets and driving asset utilisation and return on investment.
- Demonstrated success in business growth operational improvement and customer relationship management.
