Building a Better Bunbury
We have a permanent vacancy in our Parks and Reserves team and are looking for an enthusiastic General Hand with experience or a strong interest in irrigation and reticulation systems including their operation maintenance and repair.
Working within our experienced Parks and Reserves team you will contribute to the maintenance of the Citys irrigation systems parks reserves and public open spaces. This is a great opportunity for someone with existing irrigation experience or practical skills who is interested in further developing their knowledge in this area.

While irrigation and reticulation will be a key focus of this opportunity as a General Hand Parks and Reserves you will also contribute to the broader range of horticultural turf and landscape maintenance activities undertaken by the team.
Your skills and knowledge in these areas will be further developed through ongoing training coaching and mentoring from our experienced team.
Your safety is a priority for the City so active participation in daily planning and safety discussions will be essential to ensuring the safe and successful delivery of our maintenance programs.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist with the operation maintenance repair and installation of irrigation and reticulation systems across City parks and reserves
- Assist with identifying and troubleshooting irrigation faults
- Operate power tools plant and equipment associated with parks and reserves maintenance
- Participate in turf horticultural and landscape maintenance activities
- Support the delivery of a variety of outdoor projects across the Citys reserves and public open spaces
- Work collaboratively with the Parks and Reserves team to maintain high-quality public spaces for our community
What you bring to the role
- Experience in or a strong interest in developing skills in irrigation and reticulation maintenance
- A relevant qualification in irrigation horticulture turf management landscaping or a related field is desirable
- Practical aptitude and an ability to undertake hands-on maintenance and fault-finding activities
- A minimum Medium Rigid drivers licence (or willing to obtain within 3 months of commencement self-funded with the use of City plant to practice)
- White Card
- Basic Traffic Management Certificate (or willing to obtain funded by the City)
- Satisfactory National Police Clearance (under 12 months)
- A passion for working in outdoor environments and maintaining quality public open spaces
- Ability to work collaboratively and safely in a team environment

- Salary of $81371 (plus super)

Conditions of employment are in accordance with the City of Bunburys Employees 2024 Enterprise agreement.
