Demand on our services has created an opportunity for a SeniorAssociate or Counsel to join our General Counsel & Risk team. Thisrole would be responsible for investigating and analysing complexissues managing a portfolio of cases instructing externallawyers liaising with relevant insurers managing the firmsinsurances delivering proactive risk management initiativesoverseeing and delivering strategic and operational objectives andadvising senior management on liability and risk issues
Reporting to both the General Counsel Professional Claims &Insurances based in London and the Australian General Counsel basedin Melbourne the key responsibilities and requirements for thisrole are as follows;
Responsibilities
- Managing the defence of professional liability claims made against the firm
- Managing the firms insurances (including renewal of relevant policies)
- Instructing external lawyers and Counsel in Australia
- Working on all aspects of the dispute resolution process
- Working on investigations and regulatory matters
- Presenting to the firm on risk and liability issues
Requirements
- Previous experience as a Senior Lawyer gained within an Insurance or Litigation practice
- Experience with mediations and negotiating settlements
- Excellent analytical drafting and communication skills
- Strong time management & organisational skills with the capacity to manage multiple projects and conflicting priorities simultaneously
- The ability to understand complex commercial transactions summarise them and inform third parties (including non-lawyers) of the issues in a succinct way
