About The Opportunity
This is a highly customer-focused hands-on role at Councils Waste Management Facility supporting the safe and efficient operation of waste and recycling services. The Gatehouse Attendant is responsible for assisting customers inspecting and classifying incoming loads operating weighbridge and gatehouse systems processing payments and ensuring waste is directed and managed appropriately. The role also contributes to site presentation recycling initiatives and the identification of valuable recyclable materials while maintaining high standards of safety accuracy and customer service.
About You
To be successful in this role you will need to demonstrate the following key selection criteria:
- Demonstrated experience in a customer service role with the ability to provide professional and courteous service to a diverse range of customers.
- Demonstrated experience in cash handling receipting and stock handling.
- Demonstrated computer proficiency including experience using Microsoft Office applications databases and other business systems.
- Experience performing general administrative and office duties including data entry and record keeping.
- Well-developed written and verbal communication skills with the ability to communicate effectively with customers contractors and colleagues.
- Strong organisational skills with the ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
- Demonstrated knowledge of Workplace Health and Safety requirements and a commitment to safe work practices.
- Knowledge of valuable scrap materials and recyclable items or the ability to quickly acquire this knowledge.
- Ability to work in all weather conditions and undertake physically demanding tasks.
- Current Queensland Class C Driver Licence.
- Availability to work weekends public holidays and overtime as required
