ABOUT US:

Yorgum was established in 1991 by agroup of Aboriginal women some of whom worked in womens refuges whowere concerned about the lack ofappropriate counselling support for Aboriginal people experiencing spiritualemotional and psychological pain. They founded a service with a healingapproach rather than an ongoing crisis-driven patch-up approach.

Yorgum offers all Aboriginal people andtheir families autonomous community-based healing services that are culturallysecure trauma-informed and work within an Aboriginal Family Worldview.

The Role:

Yorgum HealingServices (Yorgum) in partnership with Hope Community Services operate theArmadale Family and Domestic Violence (FDV) Hub Waullo Dawn and Koolarkdelivered in partnership with other specialist services including:

• Ishar Multicultural Womens Health Services
• Ngala
• Womens Legal Service WA
• Aboriginal Legal Services of WA
• Marmun Mia-Mia
• 360 Health Community
• Ruah Community Services.

The hub willprovide victim-survivors with access to services and supports in a singleaccessible location as well as providing off-site services for perpetratorsand young people. The service model will see the creation of a multiculturaland multidisciplinary team while adopting a trauma informed culturallycompetent approach: while the various hub team members will be employed by oneof the nine service partners they will work within the cohesive FDV Hub teamculture under the leadership of the FDV Manager to provide support to womenand children who are experiencing family violence.

This position will be responsible for the deliveryof culturally safe services for families who are accessing the FDV Hub inArmadale to support positive social and emotional wellbeing.

SELECTION Criteria:

To be considered for the role you will be able to demonstrate thefollowing experience and abilities:

1. Minimum of a Certificate IV or above in Community Services.

2. Demonstrated experience in engaging with the Aboriginal CommunityElders and relevant community stakeholders.

3. Knowledge and experience of Family Domestic Violence (FDV) and orsurvivors of FDV.

4. Demonstrated experience in delivering culturally safe activities topromote positive social and emotional wellbeing.

THE SUCCESSFUL CANDIDATE WILL NEED TO SUPPLY:
